I've known this since I was a child...

Hello, my name is Durrell Brown — and I’ve been helping people for as long as I can remember.

I vividly recall being in third grade, arriving early to school just to encourage and minister to my teacher before the bell rang. Even then, God in His love and mercy was showing me who I was and what He placed inside of me. Not just a gift to help people — but a calling to guide them to discover who they are in Christ.

Growing up in a Baptist church with strong leadership and a vibrant youth fellowship, I was surrounded by mentors, pastors, and ministers who poured into me. They saw something in me that I hadn’t yet seen in myself. They began calling me Reverend Brown, and at just 12 years old, I preached my first sermon. That day I knew — I was different. I wasn’t the kid dreaming of being a scientist, engineer, or pilot. I was the one called to serve the Kingdom of God. What an honor and privilege it has been.

Now, my life hasn’t been perfect. I’ve faced challenges, trials, and seasons of doubt. But even in the midst of them all, God has always guided me — kept me, refined me, and reminded me of the path He set before me.

So let me ask you:

What did you notice about yourself as a child? What dreams did you have? What did you draw, imagine, or daydream about when no one was watching? What’s been planted in your heart that still whispers to you in quiet moments?

I believe those early passions often carry divine fingerprints. For example, I was passionate about current events. I would visit every local news station's website, email anchors to learn from them, and even shadowed some during high school. I didn’t realize then that my passion for journalism was really a glimpse into something deeper — God was preparing me to deliver the Good News.

God often reveals our purpose through our childhood innocence — that’s why Scripture urges us to be childlike. He wraps eternity in our hearts early, and calls us back to it again and again.

Now, after a year of blogging, I’m beginning a new journey.

It’s called #AskTheLoveEnthusiast.
