No wick in the candle. No light to shine.

The wick is what sustains the flame.

I've often wondered why the fire within people begins to fade.

How does someone who was once consumed with love for God become content with distance?

How does a heart once alive with worship become silent?

How does someone who couldn't wait to open the Scriptures suddenly struggle to read a single page?

Maybe the better question isn't...

Where did the fire go?

Maybe it's...

What happened to the wick?

A flame doesn't disappear on its own.

Something underneath it stopped sustaining it.

The wick is hidden.

Most people admire the fire, but few pay attention to the wick.

Yet without it...

there is no flame.

Scripture tells us that we were created in the image of God.

"So, God created man in His own image..."Genesis 1:27

If we bear His image, then perhaps we were always created to carry His fire.

Not manufactured passion.

Not emotional moments.

His presence.

That kind of fire is sustained through intimacy.

Daily fellowship.

Quiet obedience.

Faith that continues seeking Him—even when nothing feels extraordinary.

Hebrews tells us that He rewards those who diligently seek Him.

Perhaps the reward was never something He gives.

Perhaps...

the reward has always been Him.

There will be seasons when your prayers feel quiet.

When your worship feels heavy.

When your Bible stays closed longer than you'd like.

When your passion feels like smoke instead of flame.

Don't confuse the season with your identity.

You weren't created merely to smolder.

You were created to burn.

So tend to your wick.

Protect your secret place.

Return to prayer.

Return to His Word.

Return to His presence.

Because the fire you miss isn't gone.

It simply needs something to sustain it again.

Get your wick back.

Not so people can see your fire.

But so, the One who lit it in the first place is never without a dwelling place within you.

"For our God is a consuming fire. "Hebrews 12:29
